Calimetrix customers around the world are using Calimetrix quantitative MRI phantoms for research, clinical trials, and clinical quality assurance.

Customer Testimonials

“I purchased a Calimetrix phantom with custom Fat Fraction, R2*, and T1 sample inserts. It’s quite useful to have a phantom with calibrated values to assist in MRI pulse sequence development and MRI protocol modification. The phantom is an essential test object for me; I can use it in place of or prior to imaging human volunteers or patients.

One recent application for pulse sequence development was validation of a 2D Fat-Water imaging sequence which provides Fat Fraction and R2* maps in Cardiac MRI. We recently made modifications to the reconstruction algorithm for this sequence. By imaging the phantom in our research MRI scanner, I was able to validate that with the new reconstruction algorithm, the sequence produced Water-, Fat-, and R2*-map images consistent with the previous algorithm; and that these maps were quantitatively accurate to a degree acceptable for this application.

When making modifications to clinical MRI protocols, it’s often necessary to ensure images produced by the new protocol have similar image contrast to the previous protocol. In many situations, I’m able to use this phantom to confirm the changes are acceptable. For example, our clinical MRI service has recently made modifications to their cardiac MRI protocol; using this phantom, I’m able to show that these changes do not negatively affect images which depend on T1, R2*, or fat content for contrast.

During the recent pandemic, it’s been especially useful to do as much development work as possible using phantoms, instead of human subjects.”

“The Calimetrix phantoms provide constant known fat fraction and R2* values on which we can test our sequences. We have been tracking the values over time, and have established the range of precision of our instrument. If the test data falls outside of this range, it will alert us to a potential problem before discovering the problem during a study, and losing valuable clinical data. Our facility is committed to quality data generation; having the known values to compare our biological results to provides us added confidence that any changes we detect are biologically relevant.”

“The phantom is easy to handle, and PDFF values appear to be stable. We are very satisfied with this product, and may buy another one soon.”

“I commend Calimetrix on the quality packaging and beautiful phantom. I have been involved with MRI for 35 years and that is quite possibly the nicest specimen I have ever seen. Looking forward to using it!”
